Located in the Eastern part of the Gulf of
Thailand, 17 kilometres east of the mainland, Koh Samui ('Koh' means island in
the Thai language) is
a
stunningly beautiful tropical island
and the third largest of Thailand's
islands after Koh Phuket and Koh Chang. It is the largest in an Archipelago of
48 islands, which includes the fabulous Angthong National Marine Park, Koh
Phangan and Koh Tao. Samui is, at its longest and widest points, a mere 25
kilometres long and 21 wide. At 247 square kilometres it is large enough to give
you the peace and space to explore without the constant tourist grind, but still
small enough that it can be completely explored in one holiday.
